Our "Save Lambeau" campaign is over. During the campaign, which began in the summer of 2003, we had
raised awareness of the fact that there are many Packer fans around the world who did not want the
"Lambeau Field" name sold. This was a tough issue, because in November 2000, the citizens of Green
Bay voted in favor of selling the stadium name.
All we wanted to do with our campaign was to send a message to the citizens of Green Bay, saying that while
we understand the financial issues, we still want to keep the "Lambeau Field" name.
Many fans even donated money to the Lambeau Field renovation as a sign of how serious we felt about the issue.
Our campaign made the local news on TV and in the newspaper many times. It was even mentioned in Sports Illustrated.
In the end, the issue just kind of died off. In March 2004, we wrote a letter to Jim Schmitt, Mayor of Green Bay,
asking him for some official resolution. If the issue was dead, we wanted to hear that it was official. But
Mayor Schmitt never replied to our letter. Since that was some time ago, and since there are no longer any
rumblings about selling the name, we must conclude that the issue is closed.
Awesome! That's all we wanted. The issue closed and the stadium name remains "Lambeau Field". Thanks for all your support.
