UPDATE: 11-May-2002:
This is a story about a 10-year-old Packer fan in Minnesota, who was not allowed to wear his Brett Favre jersey at school.
You can read the stories in the links below to catch up on what's going on with Rocky.
The latest issue though, is that Rocky is in need of funds to support his appeal. Here's a message from his dad, Roy:
"Rocky is now 12 years old. This all took place when he was 9 and 10, and in 4th grade. His homeroom teacher from that year, Mr. Wilson, admitted in a deposition making Rocky cover his Brett Favre jersey for the promotional photo after winning the contest because he said wearing a Packer's jersey was disrespectful.
"Rocky wants to appeal and to keep fighting so that this never happens to his cousins who live in MN also and are younger, and so it never happens to any child anywhere. He doesn't want any child to go through the abuse and torment and ridicule he had to go through. We feel that if we fight this to the end, that it might establish a new law and set a precedent that will give kids of all ages the Constitutional right to wear what they want as long as it is within the dress code of the school and is not offensive. We do not believe that wearing a Brett Favre jersey or a Packer's shirt is disrespectful or harmful to anyone in any way. We also believe that kids should be able to cheer for any professional team they choose regardless of their demographics or the team;s demographics."
