Packers Tickets: Article
This article appeard on the front page of the Saturday, August 12, 1995 edition of the Green Bay Press-Gazette:

20,000 want Packer tickets

By Tony Walter
Press-Gazette

The Packers are running out of tickets, stadium space and salary cap money, but not people.

The waiting list for season tickets, believed to be the highest in the National Football League, climbed above 20,000 this week for the first time.

So how long will it take to get a season ticket if you put your name on the list now?

"At the current rate, probably about three lifetimes," said Ticket Director Mark Wagner. No. 20,000 was Megan Rowlands, a 15-year-old Sheboygan high school sophomore.

"Her younger brother wanted his name on the list and Megan said, 'Don't leave me out,'" said her mother, Kathy. "I know what the odds are, but there are a lot of people in their 50s who don't like going to games anymore. Sometime in her life, Megan's name might get up there."

The decision to stop playing in Milwaukee and move all games to Lambeau Field this season took some names off the waiting list, but added many more.

About 200 names were removed from the Green Bay list as the former Milwaukee tickets were distributed. But the promise of more games in Green Bay stirred interest among potential ticketholders.

Waiting list information isn't available through the NFL, and most teams are reluctant to reveal it. But the New York Giants' list, believed to be the next-largest, has 19,000 names.

The list of the Denver Broncos, who always play to a full house at Mile High Stadium, is between 3,000 and 4,000 names.
