Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame
1265 Lombardi Avenue
Green Bay, WI 54304
(920) 499-4281

Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame Builders Club The Hall celebrated its silver anniversary in 1995, though the current Hall of Fame logo says it was established in 1967. Originally, the Hall of Fame was simply a display set up under the bleachers at the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena. It was only open during the summer. Since then, the Hall moved to its own permanent location on Lombardi Avenue adjacent to the Arena. The building at this location was dedicated by President Ford in 1976. In 2003, the hall moved to its current location, at Lambeau Field, as part of the major renovation project.

Another change that happened in 2003, as subtle as it may be, is the actual name of the museum. The name has changed from the "Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame" to the "Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame". Today, the Hall sports hands-on interactive video displays, numerous multimedia exhibits and many Packer historical items, making it one of the most fascinating sports museums in the country.

The Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame Builders Club was a fund-raising project to help support the remodeling of the hall in the mid 1990s. By contributing certain sums of money, the donor got a brick with their name on it, along with a lifetime pass (pictured above).

The Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame is open every day.

These are some photos from the summer of 1970, when I visited the hall of fame with my grandfather and my uncle. I was 8 years old. This was back when the hall was a collection of displays under the bleachers at the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena. The first photo is somewhat hazy, but we're all standing under the entrance sign. That's my grandfather on the left and my uncle on the right, with me in the middle.

The placque at the entrance to the old Packer Hall of Fame:
The Green Bay Packers, an institution and a legend, are unique.

The only publicly-owned club in professional sport, they were founded as a town team in 1919 by E.L. "Curly" Lambeau, who coached them to six world championships. They acquired their first jerseys by persuading a packing company to put up money for equipment and, originally, played their games in an open field, where fans "passed the hat."

Nurtured into a professional football power that has left a lasting imprint on the sport, they became the first team to win three consecutive National Football League titles (1929-30-31), a feat repeated under Vince Lombardi (1965-66-67) and never equaled. Overall, they have won 11 world championships, more than any other club in league history.

Long a "state" team, annually playing games in Milwaukee as well as Green Bay, the Packers have become a national institution, with fans in all 50 states.

Erected 1977
